There is a shift happening.
Millennials are realizing that a four-year college degree may not always be the right path, especially with the rising cost of tuition. Many of them are instead learning a trade-skill, understanding the more immediate benefits. This is adding to the rise in blue-collar workers, however too many blue-collar industries do not place enough importance on training, employee development, and talent assessment.
This is a huge opportunity but firms need to be more proactive. Otherwise, they risk higher turnover, increased costs, loss of productivity, and low employee morale.
